Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door pricing

Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door Pricing 2026 Verified: Quote-Only at Volume; Classic Azure CDN Retires Sept 2027

Microsoft is steering CDN customers to Azure Front Door. Azure CDN from Edgio was retired on 15 January 2025 (Edgio's bankruptcy pulled the date forward from the planned November 2025), and Azure CDN Standard from Microsoft (classic) stopped accepting new profiles and domains on 15 August 2025 and retires fully on 30 September 2027. Front Door has list pricing per region zone, but published rates change frequently and most enterprise customers buy through an EA at negotiated rates. We mark this as quote-driven and link to the official calculator for current rack rates.

Direct answer
What does Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door actually cost in 2026?
Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door does not publish a per-GB rate card. All pricing is quote-driven through sales. The single most honest thing we can say is what their own page implies: contact the vendor and bring at least two competitor quotes (Cloudflare and Bunny work as the floor) before signing anything.

Why no rate table

Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door does not publish a per-GB rate sheet. We do not infer rates for quote-only vendors. The vendor link below is the official URL we checked.

What to do instead
Ask sales for a rate card delivered by email (not just a meeting). Send Cloudflare, Bunny, KeyCDN and Fastly published rates with your RFP so the rep cannot anchor low and then escalate. See our CDN RFP template for the exact questions to ask.

Worked example

Acme Streaming Co. (illustrative example, not a real company) serves 30 TB/month with the mix 60% North America, 30% Europe, 10% Asia Pacific.

Acme Streaming Co. cost: not computable
Because Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door does not publish a rate card, we cannot give Acme an honest estimate without inventing numbers. We will not do that. The realistic next step for Acme is to send a 30 TB / NA-EU-AP mix RFP to sales with three competitor quotes attached as the negotiation floor.

Best fit and watch-out

Best for

Azure-resident workloads using Front Door as load balancer plus CDN plus WAF.

Watch out for

Two SKUs (Standard and Premium) with different bundled features. Compare apples to apples or you will mis-estimate.
