Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door Pricing 2026 Verified: $35/mo Standard or $330/mo Premium, plus $0.083/GB in Zone 1
Microsoft publishes a full Front Door rate card. Azure Front Door Standard carries a $35 base monthly fee and Premium $330, both on top of metered usage. Outbound data transfer from edge to client is identical on both tiers and priced across nine zones: Zone 1 North America and Zone 6 Europe are $0.083 per GB for the first 10 TB, $0.066 to 50 TB and $0.057 to 150 TB, with Zone 2 Asia Pacific at $0.115, Zone 4 Australia at $0.112, Zone 3 South America and Zone 7 Middle East and Africa at $0.11, Zone 5 India at $0.109 and Zone 8 Korea the dearest at $0.14. Requests bill per 10,000 and differ by tier: Zone 1 is $0.009 on Standard and $0.015 on Premium. Volumes above 150 TB a month route to Microsoft. The older Azure Front Door (classic) is priced separately and much higher, at $0.17 per GB in Zone 1. Microsoft is steering CDN customers here: Azure CDN from Edgio was retired on 15 January 2025 (Edgio's bankruptcy pulled the date forward from the planned November 2025), and Azure CDN Standard from Microsoft (classic) stopped accepting new profiles and domains on 15 August 2025 and retires fully on 30 September 2027.

Best fit and watch-out
Azure-resident workloads using Front Door as load balancer plus CDN plus WAF.
Two SKUs (Standard and Premium) with the same per-GB rates but a base fee nearly ten times apart, $35 against $330, and request rates two-thirds higher on Premium. The classic Front Door SKU is a different price card again at roughly double the per-GB rate, so confirm which one a quote refers to.
When not to pick Microsoft Azure CDN / Front Door
- Your traffic is dominated by a region where this vendor lacks PoPs (check the region pricing table).
- You need a flat monthly bill with no overage variance (Cloudflare or CDN77 bundles fit better).
- You need WAF, bot management, image optimisation in the same SKU (see the bundles page).
- You already buy compute on a hyperscaler and origin egress savings dwarf CDN egress (CloudFront for AWS, Cloud CDN for GCP, Front Door for Azure).
